Wyatt Earp and his wife “Josie” (his pet name for her) had a view of the Yuba River from room #9. Josephine signed the Washington Hotel Register that night. It is thought that they were here to invest in either a gold mine or visit an old friend who owned The Red Cross Mine located four miles up the river from the Washington Hotel.
